Gulf Oil Spill

Please, please share this link with as many people as you can.

There is so much that BP is doing to save their asses and NOT help the situation, it's making me sick to my stomach.  [livejournal.com profile] karabou  brought this to my attention. THANK YOU!

Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols visit the Gulf

"CW stars Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols spent June 21and 22 in Grand Isle and New Orleans, La., viewing the impact of the BP oil spill on the Gulf coast, its wildlife and its people.

Here, they share their startling photos and stories with Zap2it in the hopes of raising awareness and encouraging activism."

There is stuff here I have not seen before.  They make some very interesting observations about how BP is not being monitored, how they are lying about the wildlife preserves being adequately protected...man, I don't even know.

EDITED TO ADD:
[livejournal.com profile] vichan  brought up a really good point.  She shared this article explaining how small business owners, some of whom just own the franchise and don't necessarily buy BP gas, could be hurt.

So the question is, what can we as the consumers do to express how we feel to BP in a way that would give them pause.  Because letters won't do it and from what I've read so many home products use BP's petroleum that separating out what should be considered a part of the boycott would be impossible.

Left comments open this time.

Previously I had this posted but now....I'm not thinking it's so good an idea.

Also for anyone who decides to boycott BP, make sure you know all the companies they own.  Here is a short list I found, no telling how accurate it is:
  • Amoco
  • Aral
  • Arco
  • AM/PM
  • Castrol
  • Wild Bean Cafe
  • Shell-Mex (joint venture between Shell and BP)
Also there is a facebook account for it if anyone is interested:
